origins

Look what I just found: the germ of my trip. I thought I had written about it earlier.

Sort of funny to read it now. And sure enough, Scout was christened. I honestly can't remember when. It just happened. Perhaps soon after reading To Kill a Mockingbird with my class. But it might have been while driving through Alabama. Do you remember that, Laura?

I love it! Scout it is, or he is, or she is? "She", I suppose from To Kill a Mockingbird makes most sense, right?

I think we need to be friends. (this is Molly, by the way, who volunteered with you at Cafe 458 on Saturday.)
And here's where I posted that Bob Dylan quote about motorcycles: http://molly-rocks.blogspot.com/2006/09/we-all-like-motorcycles-to-some-degree.html

Kate and Molly, I hereby declare you friends.

Kate, I love that you name your car and I love that you named it Scout! I recently reread To Kill a Mockingbird for the time since childhood ... my sister Bethany and my friend Melinda reread it often, at least once a year, so thee three of us gathered at Felinis when I finished and worked on a map of the town. That's nerdy cool!

Also, thank you for linking to the "germ of the trip." Examining thought processes is something I love, so seeing how it all started was invigorating.

Yes, I remember! It was somewhere in Alabama, though I don't recall exactly where. It was somewhere between the big blue chair and Meridian. You decided Scout was a very appropriate name for your car, and even more so since it was in Alabama.
