chocolate cake

This is the easiest recipe possible for a chocolate cake. And it's tasty, springy, and moist.

Dump into a mixing bowl:
2 c. flour (256g)
1.5 c. suger (300g)
2/3 c cocoa powder
2 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
mix it a bit
add
2/3 c veg. shortening
2 eggs
2/3 c milk
1/2 c water
1 t vanilla
beat for 3-4 minutes

bake in 2 greased & floured 9-in cake pans at 350 degrees for 25 minutes
it should spring back when touched
or today i made cupcakes, and they baked in 16 minutes.
Remove them from the pans 10 minutes after taking them from the oven.

At this point we ran out of cocoa powder, and I couldn't make chocolate frosting, so instead, we fudged and created our own concoction:

about...
3/4 c. butter/shortening
1.5 cups powdered sugar
1/2 t water
1/2 t vanilla
beat it for quite a while, until the butter makes it fluffy.
add a little more milk (1-2 T) until smooth
and then add 2 scoops of peanut butter! to taste.

it turned out delicious.

I made the cake earlier this summer for my Dad's birthday on June 20. I made it again today for a staff party hosted, welcoming all of us back to Prague. It was a good time, and we met lots of the new staff.
