you can visit the farmers' market and not hear english spoken. Your cashiers are bound to speak with a foreign accent.

The more I think about it, Kate, the more undecided I am about that questional apostrophe. I guess I'm kind of thinking now that it does belong there - after all it is a market belonging to farmers. That's a bit of a pity because it sure would be fun to picket outside the farmers' market with signs that say, "This apostrophe is not necessary!" as Lynne Truss would! Incidentally, you should post the panda joke on your blog.

Incidentally, Lynne Truss came out with another book. I think it's about manners. Anything to be a stickler about...
